Pet adoption is a lifesaving and heart-expanding endeavor. And there are so many rewards of adopting a pet, including saving the life of a homeless pet and providing them with love and companionship, addressing community issues such as cat and dog overpopulation, and making room for shelters and rescue groups to save more pets.

Holidays should be a fun and festive time for all, but fireworks can cause stress for some cats. Here are three tips, including a new one recently discovered, on how to help your cats feel safe and calm during fireworks and loud festivities.

Cats and kittens in shelters and rescue groups who aren’t 100% healthy have a tough time finding foster homes. Samantha Bell, Best Friends' cat expert, didn’t think she could foster cats with scabies or ringworm because she lives in a one-bedroom apartment with three friendly and nosy cats. But due to a huge need for medical foster homes, she brought home two kittens with scabies (mange) and realized how doable it is.
